Mount McKay is a prominent mafic sill that rises dramatically above Thunder Bay, providing one of the best panoramic viewpoints in the region. From its summit, visitors can gaze out over the city, the Sleeping Giant formation, and the vast expanse of Lake Superior. The site is sacred to the Fort William First Nation, and a short drive or hike leads to the top, where interpretive signs explain the geological and cultural significance. It's a perfect spot for photography and quiet reflection.
Don't miss
- Take in the 360-degree view of Thunder Bay and Lake Superior from the summit.
- Read interpretive signs about the area's geology and Indigenous heritage.
- Hike the short trail from the parking area to the lookout.
