The Murray Mine is a landmark of Sudbury's mining heritage, now integrated into the Dynamic Earth science center. Originally opened in the 1880s, it was one of the region's first major nickel mines. Today, visitors can descend into the mine via a guided tour that takes them 50 feet underground into actual mine workings. The experience includes demonstrations of drilling and blasting techniques, as well as a chance to see the rock formations up close. The tour provides a vivid glimpse into the challenging conditions faced by early miners and the evolution of mining technology.
