The National War Memorial in St. John's stands as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by Newfoundlanders in conflicts from World War I onwards. Located on Water Street near the harbor, the monument features a bronze soldier atop a granite pedestal, with a caribou, the symbol of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, at its base. The site is the focal point of Remembrance Day ceremonies, where the Last Post is played. Visitors can reflect on the names of the fallen and appreciate the memorial's commanding view of the harbor.
