The Cathedral Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec is the primatial church of Canada and the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Quebec. Originally built in 1647, it has been rebuilt several times after fires, with the current neoclassical façade dating to the 1920s. Inside, visitors are awed by the richly decorated sanctuary, including a baldachin, stained glass windows depicting Quebec's history, and the tomb of Saint François de Laval, the first bishop of New France.
