The Okanagan Lake Bridge was a three-lane floating pontoon bridge that served as a vital link across Okanagan Lake from 1958 until its replacement in 2008. It featured a unique lift span to allow boat traffic. Though no longer standing, its legacy remains a key part of Kelowna's history. Visitors can learn about it at local museums or see remnants at the waterfront, imagining the days when this structure was the only direct route between the two communities.

Don't miss

  • Explore the Okanagan Heritage Museum for exhibits on the bridge's construction and history
  • Visit the waterfront near the old bridge site to see remaining abutments and interpretive signs
  • Compare the old floating bridge with the modern William R. Bennett Bridge from nearby parks
