Buea, the capital of Cameroon's Southwest Region, sits on the eastern slopes of Mount Cameroon at about 870 meters elevation. The town retains German colonial buildings from the early 1900s, including the former Governor's Palace and the Buea Mountain Hotel. Visitors can explore the old town, enjoy the cool air, and take in vistas of the volcano. It's a quiet, historic base for mountain treks.
