Ta Prohm, also known as the 'Tomb Raider Temple' for its appearance in the film, is a 12th-century Buddhist monastery left largely in its natural state. Visitors wander through crumbling corridors and courtyards where silk-cotton and strangler fig trees have enveloped walls and towers. The site evokes a sense of discovery, as if the jungle is reclaiming the structure. Unlike other Angkor temples, Ta Prohm has been preserved with minimal intervention, highlighting the power of nature.

Don't miss

  • Explore the atmospheric inner courtyards and dark passageways
  • Look for the carved devatas (female deities) still visible on the walls
