Wat Ounalom is one of Phnom Penh's five original monasteries and serves as the headquarters of the Cambodian Buddhist patriarch. Founded in 1443, it houses a large stupa containing a sacred hair of the Buddha. The complex includes several buildings, a library, and a statue of the founder, Preah Maha Sangkhean. Visitors can explore the serene grounds, observe monks in prayer, and see the damaged but restored structures that survived the Khmer Rouge era.
