Melchior Ndadaye International Airport (BJM) serves as the primary aviation hub for Bujumbura and all of Burundi. Named in honor of the nation's first democratically elected president, the airport handles both domestic and international flights. The terminal is modest but functional, with basic amenities including a duty-free shop, café, and currency exchange. Visitors will appreciate its proximity to the city center (about 10 km) and the scenic approach along Lake Tanganyika.

  • Observe the airport's namesake monument honoring President Ndadaye.
  • Enjoy views of Lake Tanganyika during approach and departure.
  • Visit the small on-site café for a pre-flight coffee.
