The Siege of Calafat (1853–1854) occurred during the Wallachian Revolution, when Ottoman troops besieged the Romanian-held town of Calafat. The siege is notable for the fierce resistance of Romanian volunteers and the involvement of foreign powers. Today, the site features remnants of old fortifications and a memorial.
