Salvador was the first capital of Brazil and is known as the baía de Todos os Santos. It is surrounded by beaches of great natural beauty, It has many cultural heritage sites and preserves a beautiful architectural ensemble that represents a living piece of Brazil history. My experience was wonderful. When I visited Salvador, I went with a group of friends and stayed there for five days. We stayed at the Golden Park Hotel, which is in Pituba. We visited various sights from there. We visited the Elevador Lacerda, visited the Pelourinho, the Museu da Misericordia, the Mercado Modelo, the Arena Fonte Nova and some small craft shops. The hotel food was very good and I was very stisfied. As I was staying at the hotel, I always had my meals there, but before returning home, my friends and I went to Rio Vermelho. We went by car, but you can go by motorcycle or public transportation too. We got there around 8:00 pm because it's the busiest time and there are a lot of bars open. We stayed at Largo da Mariquita, which houses the Acarajé de Cira and is a great place to sit and watch the movement. When we got there I met my boyfriend, a former teacher and some friends. The guys drank some beers, ate some very good snacks and we stayed there for a few hours talking about everything that came to mind. In addition to the places I visited, there are beaches that are beautiful, nightclubs for those who like to enjoy some busy music and restaurant for all kinds of taste. From Bahian food, to Mexican food. For those who want to visit the capital of Bahia, I highly recommend it. It is very worth the experience. I allow myself to venture into the city and loved every day I was there. It's a very hot city, but I'm sure anyone will find the city amazing and have a great time.

I have tried different Acarajés in Salvador. Cira's was recommended by a friend. The dough is tasty and crunchy but the dried shrimp had no taste whatsoever not even a little salt! As for a real Acarajé experience, I was expecting a choice of "Vatapá" and "Caruru" for filling but she only had "vatapá"! Great location, though!!
