Kunzangdrak Monastery clings to a rocky cliff above Jakar, a site hallowed by the 15th-century treasure revealer Pema Lingpa. Visitors climb a steep path to reach the whitewashed temple, where prayer flags flutter against a backdrop of terraced fields and distant peaks. Inside, murals and relics recall the tertön's legacy, while the balcony provides one of the most photographed panoramas in Bumthang. The monastery remains an active place of worship, so guests are asked to walk clockwise and speak softly.

Don't miss

  • Panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Chokhor Valley
  • Ancient murals and sacred relics connected to Pema Lingpa
