Gangteng Monastery, also known as Gangtey Goemba, is a prominent Nyingma Buddhist monastery founded in the 17th century. Perched on a hill overlooking the expansive Phobjikha Valley, it serves as the seat of the Gangtey Tulku lineage. Visitors can explore its ornate prayer halls, admire intricate murals and statues, and witness monks in prayer. The monastery's location provides breathtaking panoramic views of the valley, especially during the autumn crane season. The surrounding village and chortens add to the tranquil, sacred ambiance.
