John Greif II Airport is the main aerial gateway to San Pedro, located just south of town on Ambergris Caye. Unlike large international hubs, this compact airport buzzes with small Cessna and Twin Otter aircraft that whisk visitors from Belize City in under 20 minutes. Arriving here is an experience in itself: the descent offers stunning views of the reef, sandbars, and the island's patchwork of resorts and mangroves. The open-air terminal exudes a relaxed Caribbean vibe, with tarmac-side benches where you can watch planes come and go against a backdrop of swaying palms.

Don't miss

  • Watch planes land dramatically close to the runway's end over the lagoon.
  • Enjoy panoramic views of the reef and island from the departure lounge.
  • Snap a photo with the colorful 'San Pedro' sign near the terminal.
