Perched on a hill northeast of Leuven's center, Keizersberg Abbey (also known as the Abbey of the Keizersberg) is a Benedictine monastery that commands sweeping views over the city and the surrounding countryside. The abbey's modern church, built after World War I, has a striking brick exterior and a serene interior with beautiful stained glass. The real draw, however, is the abbey's location: from the terrace and gardens, you can see the spires of Leuven's historic churches, the university buildings, and the distant hills. This vantage point makes Keizersberg a favorite for photographers and those seeking a quiet escape. The abbey is still home to a community of monks, and visitors are welcome to explore the church, attend services, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The on-site shop sells honey and other products made by the monks.
