The Broeltowers are a pair of stout medieval towers standing on the banks of the Leie River in central Kortrijk. Built in the 13th and 14th centuries, they originally formed part of the city's main gate and fortifications. Today, they are among the most photographed landmarks in Kortrijk, their reflection shimmering in the water. Visitors can admire their rugged stonework, pointed roofs, and the small bridge connecting them. The towers are especially atmospheric at dusk when lit up, and they host occasional exhibitions inside. A stroll along the riverfront offers the best views, with benches where you can sit and take in the scene.

Don't miss

  • Photograph the towers from the Leie River bridge for the classic postcard view
  • Look for the small exhibition space inside one tower (check opening times)
  • Walk along the riverbank to see the towers from different angles
  • Visit at sunset when the towers are beautifully illuminated
