Boerentoren, meaning 'Farmer's Tower', is a landmark skyscraper in Antwerp that stands as a testament to early 20th-century architectural ambition. Completed in 1932, it was one of the first high-rise buildings in Europe and remains a prominent feature of the city's skyline. The tower rises 26 stories and 97 meters, with a distinctive stepped silhouette and Art Deco ornamentation. While the building is primarily an office tower and not open to the public, its exterior is a must-see for architecture enthusiasts. The ground floor houses a café and a shopping arcade. What makes Boerentoren distinctive is its pioneering role in European skyscraper design and its elegant blend of modernism and traditional craftsmanship.
