George Washington House is a meticulously restored 18th-century plantation house where a 19-year-old George Washington lodged in 1751 during his only trip abroad. The visit was intended to aid his brother Lawrence's health, but Washington contracted smallpox here, which later gave him immunity. Today, the house is a museum offering a glimpse into colonial life, with period furnishings and exhibits about Washington's stay. Visitors can tour the rooms, gardens, and an underground tunnel used for storing goods. The site is part of the Garrison Historic Area, adding historical depth to the experience.
