National Heroes Square, formerly Trafalgar Square, is the historic heart of Bridgetown. Dominated by the neo-Gothic Parliament Buildings, the square also features a bronze statue of Lord Nelson (predating London's Nelson's Column) and the ornate Dolphin Fountain, erected to commemorate the island's first piped water supply. The square is a gathering place for locals and visitors, with benches shaded by palm trees. It's the starting point for exploring Bridgetown's colonial architecture and serves as a venue for national ceremonies.
Don't miss
- Admire the neo-Gothic Parliament Buildings, home to Barbados's legislature
- See the statue of Lord Nelson, erected in 1813, older than its London counterpart
- Photograph the Dolphin Fountain, a symbol of Bridgetown's water history
