George Washington House in Bridgetown is the only place outside the United States where the first U.S. president ever slept. In 1751, a 19-year-old Washington visited Barbados with his half-brother Lawrence, staying in this plantation-style house. Today, the restored building operates as a museum, featuring period rooms with 18th-century furniture, a kitchen garden, and exhibits about Washington's time on the island. Visitors can explore the house and grounds, learning about his stay and its impact on his later life. The site offers a unique connection between Barbadian and American history.
