Fort Fincastle is a historic fortress constructed in 1793 by Lord Dunmore, the colonial governor, to protect Nassau from pirates and foreign invaders. Shaped like a paddle-wheel steamer, the fort sits atop Bennet's Hill, the highest point on New Providence Island. Visitors can climb the 66-foot water tower adjacent to the fort for sweeping views of Nassau, Paradise Island, and the harbor. Inside, they'll find cannons, a small museum with artifacts, and a glimpse into the island's colonial past. Its distinctive paddle-shaped design and hilltop location make it a unique landmark in the Bahamas.
