Chingizgala (also spelled Chingiz Gala) is a historic fortress and archaeological site perched on a hilltop about 15 km from Zaqatala. The fortress dates from the medieval period, with some sources suggesting origins as early as the 8th-9th centuries. The site consists of stone walls, towers, and the remains of a palace complex. Excavations have uncovered pottery, coins, and other artifacts. Visitors can climb the hill for sweeping views of the surrounding valleys and the Greater Caucasus range. The site is less visited, offering a sense of discovery and solitude.
