Belvedere Palace

Belvedere Palace is a magnificent Baroque complex in Vienna, consisting of two palaces, the Upper and Lower Belvedere, set amidst beautifully manicured gardens. A bit of history

Built in the early 18th century for Prince Eugene of Savoy, the Belvedere Palace was designed by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt. After the prince's death, it passed to the Habsburgs and later became a museum in 1903. It was here that the Austrian State Treaty was signed in 1955, restoring Austria's sovereignty.
