Burggarten is a serene green space nestled between the Hofburg Palace and the Ringstraße, once the private imperial garden. Today it's a public park where locals and tourists alike relax on lawns, admire flowerbeds, and stroll past statues. The centerpiece is the marble Mozart monument, surrounded by a flowerbed shaped like a musical note. The Palmenhaus, a magnificent Art Nouveau glasshouse, now houses a butterfly house and a café. The park also features a statue of Emperor Franz Joseph and a small pond with ducks.
Don't miss
- See the Mozart monument with its musical-note flowerbed
- Visit the Palmenhaus butterfly house (separate entry fee)
- Relax on the lawns with views of the Hofburg
- Have coffee at the Palmenhaus café under the glass roof
- Spot the statue of Emperor Franz Joseph
