The Hintere Bachofenspitze rises to 3,168 meters in the Stubai Alps, just south of Sölden. It is a popular summit for experienced hikers and climbers, offering a challenging but non-technical ascent via the Normalweg (normal route). The climb involves scrambling over scree and rock, with some exposed sections requiring sure-footedness. The reward is a panoramic view of the Ötztal and Stubai glaciers, the Wildspitze, and the Italian Alps. The mountain is often climbed from the Dresdner Hütte (2,308 m) or the Franz-Senn-Hütte (2,147 m), both reachable from the valley. The surrounding area is part of the Stubai Alps Nature Park, known for alpine flora and ibex sightings.
