Porta Claudia is a narrow gorge carved by the Isar River near Scharnitz, just west of Seefeld. Historically, it was a key defensive point on the route from Germany into Tyrol, and the remains of a 17th-century fortress still cling to the cliffs. Today, visitors can walk through the gorge on a well-maintained trail, crossing wooden bridges and passing under towering rock walls. The experience is both scenic and evocative, the roar of the river, the cool mist, and the sense of history make it a unique stop. What makes it distinctive is the combination of natural beauty and military heritage, all within easy reach of Seefeld.
