Scheibler (2,978 m) is a prominent mountain in the Verwall Alps, known for its relatively accessible summit and spectacular views. The hike from the Verwallhütte is a popular day trip from St. Anton, following a well-marked trail that winds through alpine meadows and rocky terrain. The final ascent involves some scrambling, but the panoramic vista from the top, encompassing the Arlberg, Lechtal Alps, and beyond, is well worth the effort. Scheibler is less crowded than some nearby peaks, offering a sense of solitude. The mountain’s distinctive shape, with a long ridge and steep south face, makes it a landmark visible from afar. In summer, the slopes are dotted with edelweiss and alpine roses, and the air is filled with the sound of cowbells from distant pastures.
