Hoher Riffler (3,168 m) is the crown of the Verwall Alps, a striking pyramid of rock and ice that draws mountaineers and ambitious hikers. The standard route from the Konstanzer Hütte is a challenging but non-technical climb over scree and snowfields, rewarded with a 360-degree panorama stretching from the Ötztal Alps to the Swiss mountains. The summit ridge offers dizzying drops and a sense of accomplishment. For those who prefer a less strenuous experience, the surrounding trails provide excellent views of the peak. The ascent typically takes a full day, and the mountain’s remote location ensures a wild, uncrowded experience. Many climbers combine it with a stay at the Konstanzer Hütte, a historic stone hut perched at 2,688 m.

Don't miss

  • Summit panoramic views of the Alps from the Ötztal to the Silvretta
  • The dramatic north face, a challenge for experienced climbers
  • Sunrise from the Konstanzer Hütte before the ascent
  • Glacier remnants and snowfields even in late summer
  • Wildlife sightings of chamois and golden eagles
