Hohensalzburg Fortress

Hohensalzburg Fortress (Festung Hohensalzburg) towers over Salzburg from a hilltop 120 meters above the Old Town. Built in 1077 and expanded over centuries, it is one of the largest and best-preserved medieval castles in Europe. Visitors can reach the fortress by funicular or a steep walk.
