Schloss Schönbühel is a striking castle that appears to grow out of a rocky cliff overlooking the Danube River, near Melk. Its white walls and pointed towers create a fairy-tale silhouette that has made it a favorite subject for photographers. The castle is privately owned and not open to the public, but it can be viewed from the Danube riverbank or from boat tours. The surrounding area is a popular spot for hiking and cycling, with trails offering excellent viewpoints.
