Rastkogel is a prominent peak in the Zillertal Alps, rising to 2,762 meters, and is a popular destination for hikers and skiers. The mountain is part of the Mayrhofen ski area, with lifts connecting to the Penken and Ahorn mountains. In summer, a well-marked trail leads to the summit, where a wooden cross offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding peaks, including the Hintertux Glacier and the Großvenediger. The hike passes through alpine meadows dotted with wildflowers and rocky terrain, with a mountain hut (Rastkogelhütte) providing refreshments. In winter, the slopes around Rastkogel offer intermediate and advanced ski runs, with stunning scenery. The summit is a rewarding goal for outdoor enthusiasts, combining physical challenge with the beauty of the high Alps.
