Harakiri is a legendary ski piste on the Penken mountain above Mayrhofen, renowned as one of the steepest groomed slopes in Austria. With a gradient of up to 78% (about 40 degrees), it is a true test for expert skiers. The piste is short but intense, dropping 150 vertical meters over a length of just 400 meters. Skiers must navigate a narrow, mogul-free run that demands precise carving and control. The name 'Harakiri' reflects its extreme nature. While intimidating, the piste is well-maintained and offers a unique adrenaline rush. It is part of the Penken ski area, which provides stunning views of the Zillertal Alps. Harakiri is not for beginners or intermediates; only experienced skiers should attempt it. Safety is paramount, and the slope is monitored by ski patrol.
