Mount Keira is a prominent peak in the Illawarra region, rising 464 meters above Wollongong. The summit lookout provides panoramic vistas of the city, Port Kembla, and the Pacific Ocean. Several walking trails traverse the mountain's subtropical rainforest, including the popular Mount Keira Ring Track and the shorter Summit Track. The area is also home to the Mount Keira Scout Camp and historic sites like the former coal mine.
