A thoroughly impressive dinner menu and cocktail/wine range. Bar Liberty is a great venue if you’re looking to have an intimate dinner and drinks. I was really impressed by the quality of the food and flavour profiles of each of the dishes. The wholemeal sourdough was light and fluffy, the coral trout was had a great freshness and acidity to it that you look for in a seafood cerviche, the potato dumplings had such an interesting (good) texture with nice subtle flavours from the cheddar and sauces, the meat dish was seasoned very well and cooked to a perfect medium rare and the polpete has such a rich, juicy flavour profile. This was one of the best wine bar experiences I’ve had in Melbourne. The cocktails were very nice, and included some modern/novel takes on traditional cocktails and the staff were excellent. They were never too far away and took pride in the business’ work. The venue itself was nice and intimate and definitely one to think of if you’re looking to have a solid catch up with friends or family.
Bar Liberty you have to be the coolest kid on the block. When my friend and I walked in we shared a look knowing straight away we had made a good decision to visit. The two servers were personable and made us feel apart of their evening. Good hospitality really makes a dining experience memorable, so thank you. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know. The food was seriously exciting. Everything was so well balanced and plated beautifully. 10/10. So simple but so much depth. How does one make flat bread taste so good. Ps. The potato dumplings changed my life.
Bar Liberty is a hip hangout in an unassuming terrace building. The music is loud, it has an interesting wine list (that is certainly not cheap), and a small selection of shared dishes to accompany the drinks. We had the slow cooked lamb with zucchini. It was delicious but super rich. The cauliflower chips were good too. They added a credit card fee to bill before asking us, but removed it when we said we were paying cash. For us, it was fine for a quick drink and snacks before a show.
Liked the look of the place as soon as we arrived, just had that rustic feel/vibe. Does is live up to it? Oh YES. See photo of menu, we tried all the snacks, a bit like having different tapas dishes. We also had one dish from the medium selection and one from the mains, the food was very good and a couple of the dishes were outstanding. Quite a brave wine list with a lot of producers and wines I’d not heard of, just speak to the staff and they will give all the information and knowledge you need to make your selection. We had the Alsace Riesling and the Loire Cabernet Franc, I have to say I was impressed with both. A great evening had by all. Again we are served by very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff
