Located in the vibrant Fitzroy neighborhood of Melbourne, Toddy Shop is a charming little eatery that captures the essence of South Indian cuisine, particularly Keralan fare. With its cozy 20-seat setup, the restaurant exudes a homely vibe, enhanced by vintage decor and a welcoming atmosphere. Diners rave about the authenticity of the dishes, although opinions on the execution vary. Standout features include a menu that rotates with seasonal ingredients and unique cocktails infused with Indian flavors. It’s a place that appeals to families, friends, and couples looking for a casual yet flavorful dining experience. Despite mixed reviews on the authenticity of the food, the overall ambiance and friendly service make it a noteworthy spot for those eager to explore Keralan flavors in Melbourne.

Very small, cozy restaurant tucked away on a side street in Fitzroy. It's a 20 seater restaurant serving south Indian malyalee fare. Found bottled toddy (3% alcohol) here & it was quite tasty. Cocktails here are well received. The food menu has a simple & small offering. We ordered the beef, pork, chicken & okra. Preparation was authentic with the chicken stew being excellent as were the flaky parottas. Serving portions were rather small & each dish was an average of $25. Good, one time experience.
Well, not authentic Kerala food. It can be considered an overpriced Indian fine dine restaurant. Parota was heated frozen roti. Toddy was Sri Lankan (not Kerala or even India). Place has a good ambience but congested. Kitchen appears small, makes me wonder if the dishes are cooked there or just reheated and served. Had tried the toddy, beef , chicken and parota. Beef was ok, and the others were just normal, nothing exceptional/authentic for the price.
the taste itself is top notch, a must try place with families and friends and for those who wanna try the typical Kerala dishes
Food is very good here. Especially the sea food like prawns and fish curry. It is very crowded on weekends so try to avoid on weekends
