Lake Burley Griffin is a man-made centerpiece of Canberra, named after the city's designer Walter Burley Griffin. Stretching 11 kilometers, the lake is encircled by a network of walking and cycling trails that pass landmarks such as the National Carillon, Captain Cook Memorial Jet, and the Australian National University. Visitors can hire kayaks, paddleboards, or take a scenic cruise, while the lakeside parks are perfect for picnics. The lake's design integrates nature and the city's planned layout.

Don't miss

  • Captain Cook Memorial Jet shooting water 147 meters into the air
  • Cycling or walking the full 11-kilometer loop around the lake
  • Rowing or sailing on the lake from the Acton or Yarralumla boat ramps
