A bit of history
The Queensland Museum was founded in 1862, making it one of Australia's oldest museums. The Kurilpa campus opened in 1986 as part of the Queensland Cultural Centre. 'Kurilpa' is a Yuggera word meaning 'place of the water rat', referring to the area's Indigenous heritage.
