The Alice Springs Telegraph Station is a living museum preserving the site of the first European settlement in the region. Established in 1872 as a repeater station on the Overland Telegraph Line, it connected Australia to the world. Visitors can explore restored stone buildings, including the telegraph office, residence, and kitchen, furnished with period artifacts. The station sits within a scenic reserve with walking trails along the Todd River. Interpretive displays recount the station's role in communication and its later use as a school for Aboriginal children.
