The Yerevan Opera Theatre, officially the Alexander Spendiarian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, is a cultural landmark in the heart of Yerevan. Designed by architect Alexander Tamanian in the 1930s, its grand facade and spacious auditorium host performances by the Armenian National Opera and Ballet companies. The theater's repertoire includes classics like Verdi's 'Aida' and Tchaikovsky's 'Swan Lake,' as well as works by Armenian composers such as Aram Khachaturian. Visitors can enjoy a performance in the acoustically rich hall or simply admire the building's exterior and the surrounding Swan Lake square, a popular meeting spot.

Don't miss

  • Attend a performance of Khachaturian's 'Spartacus' or 'Gayane' for a local touch.
  • Stroll around the adjacent Swan Lake square and fountains before the show.
  • Admire the neoclassical exterior with Armenian motifs, especially at sunset.
