The History Museum of Armenia, also on Republic Square, is the country's premier historical museum, housing over 400,000 artifacts that span from the Paleolithic era to the early 20th century. Its exhibits include Urartian cuneiform inscriptions, Bronze Age jewelry, medieval cross-stones (khachkars), and ethnographic displays of traditional costumes and carpets. Visitors can see the famous 'Goddess of Ani' bronze statue and a collection of ancient coins. The museum's chronological layout makes it easy to follow Armenia's complex history, from prehistoric settlements to the Kingdom of Urartu and beyond.
