The Centro Cultural Kirchner (CCK) is one of the largest cultural centres in Latin America, a magnificent Beaux-Arts former central post office in Buenos Aires, transformed into a vast, free arts venue. Spread over multiple floors, it hosts concerts, art exhibitions, dance, and events, but its showpieces are architectural and acoustic: the soaring restored halls, and above all 'La Ballena Azul' (the Blue Whale), a suspended concert auditorium famed for world-class acoustics, home to the National Symphony Orchestra. Free concerts and exhibitions make it an exceptional cultural bargain.
The building itself, grandly restored, with sweeping staircases and a glass dome, is worth wandering, and there are rooftop terraces with city views. It's near Puerto Madero and the city centre, and offers a rich, free cultural experience; check the programme for free concerts and shows.
