Fort Barrington is a small but historically significant fortification built by the British in the late 1700s to defend the harbor of St. John's. Perched on a rocky promontory at the entrance to Deep Bay, it offers some of the best panoramic views on the island. Visitors can explore the ruins of the gun emplacements and barracks, and enjoy a short hike up the hill. The site is less crowded than other forts, providing a peaceful spot for photography and picnics.
