Palais des Rais, also known as Bastion 23, is a sprawling Ottoman-era palace complex perched on the Algiers seafront. Built in the 16th century, it served as a residence for Ottoman rulers and later as a military fortification. Today, it houses multiple museums, including the Museum of Miniatures and Calligraphy, and rotating art exhibitions. Visitors can wander through courtyards, climb to rooftop terraces for stunning views of the Bay of Algiers, and admire the blend of Ottoman and Mediterranean architecture.
