The Cathedral of Dormition of St. Mary is the largest Orthodox cathedral in Berat, built in the 18th century on the site of an earlier church. It is best known for housing the Onufri Museum, named after the famous 16th-century Albanian icon painter. The museum displays a rich collection of icons, liturgical objects, and woodcarvings, including works by Onufri and his son Nikolla. The cathedral's interior features a magnificent carved wooden iconostasis, gilded and painted, which is considered one of the finest in Albania. Visitors can explore both the sacred space and the museum, gaining insight into Orthodox Christian art and history.
