Shahr-e-Gholghola, meaning 'City of Screams,' is a ruined medieval city perched on a hilltop overlooking the Bamiyan Valley. Dating back to the 6th–13th centuries, it was once a thriving settlement but was destroyed by Genghis Khan in the 13th century. The site features crumbling fortifications, residential structures, and a central citadel. Visitors can hike up the hill to explore the ruins and enjoy sweeping views of the valley and surrounding mountains. The name evokes the legend of the massacre that occurred here, adding a somber layer to the visit.
