Haji Piyada Mosque, also known as Noh Gumbad (Nine Domes), is a remarkable early Islamic monument near Balkh. Dating from the 9th century, it is considered one of the oldest surviving mosques in Afghanistan. The structure features nine small domes supported by thick brick pillars, with simple yet elegant decorative arches.
